How much an MVP really costs in 2026, by type and team location, what pushes the price up, and how to cut cost without cutting what you need to learn.
Most MVPs we scope in 2026 land between **$20K and $60K** and take **8–12 weeks** when built by a senior team using React Native or Flutter for mobile, or React/Next.js for web. A **SaaS MVP** with billing and an admin panel usually sits at **$35K–$70K**. AI-heavy MVPs (agents, RAG search) start around **$25K** and climb with the number of integrations. These are typical ranges, not quotes – your number depends on the drivers below.
If you need iOS and Android, a cross-platform framework usually saves 30–40% versus two native apps.
• **Number of user roles.** Every extra role (admin, vendor, driver) adds screens, permissions and testing. • **Integrations.** Payments, maps, calendars, CRMs, health data – each one has edge cases. • **Real-time features.** Chat, live tracking and live dashboards cost more than standard request/response screens. • **Compliance.** HIPAA, PCI DSS or GDPR requirements add architecture, logging and review time. • **Design depth.** A design system and custom animation vs. a clean UI kit. • **Team location and seniority.** Senior India-based teams commonly bill $25–$49/hour; comparable US/UK agenc
• Apple Developer ($99/year) and Google Play ($25 one-time) accounts • Cloud hosting, email, SMS and AI API usage after launch • App Store review time and rejections (plan a 1–2 week buffer) • Post-launch fixes and small improvements – budget roughly 15–20% of build cost for the first year
1. **Write the one sentence your MVP must prove.** Anything that doesn't help prove it goes to version 2. 2. **Use managed services** for auth, payments, email and storage instead of building them. 3. **Choose one platform first** if your users are mostly on iOS or mostly on web. 4. **Admin by spreadsheet.** Early on, internal tools can be simple. 5. **Start with a paid discovery** so the estimate is based on real screens, not guesses.
